The National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) and the Aquatic Law and Safety Institute have announced a new partnership for 2017. Both organizations will host conferences at the same Pittsburg location. The Aquatic Law and Risk Management Symposium will take place on Monday, April 10 and NDPA will run from April 11 to 14.
NDPA’s theme for its 16th annual conference is “The Next Generation of Water Safety.” Organizations and individuals from across the country will come together to share knowledge and ideas in efforts to prevent drownings and aquatic injuries.
The conference will have over 50 speakers who will present on a variety of topics. Keynote and general session speakers include:
- Elliot Kaye, Chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission
- Nancy Baker, Mother of Virginia Graeme Baker namesake of the 2008 Pool & Spa Safety Act
- Ruth Sova, Motivational Speaker and Founder, ATRI
- Jonathan Midgett, Consumer Product Safety Commission
Because the topics relate well, conference organizers from both groups believe their attendees will benefit from having the option to take advantage of different educational opportunities.
“It’s all about how we can provide a better attendee experience,” said Adam Katchmarchi, president of NDPA. “This is an excellent opportunity for attendees to be exposed to something they wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to.”
The conferences are not merged, according to Katcharchi, both are still considered separate entities, but there will be price breaks for those wanting to attend both. A special rate will be offered to NDPA attendees who want to attend the Law Symposium.
If the two events experience enough crossover, Katcharchi says the partnership could continue.
