City of Temecula

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been following this year’s edition of AI‘s Summer Lifeguard Challenge.

The City of Temecula swept the competition taking the top spots in June, July and August, and with their extra credit submissions (see videos below), they kept their dominance.

Gwen Willcox, community services manager who oversees the city’s aquatics program was thrilled to hear the news.

“This is our fourth season we’ve participated in the Summer Challenge and we really wanted to win. We took training for each of the challenges seriously and paid close attention to detail. I want to give recognition to my aquatic coordinator, Melissa Davis, and our Head Lead Lifeguard Kristen Post, for taking charge, and bringing home the win for us,” Willcox said. “My lifeguards will be ecstatic to hear about our success. Looking forward to the challenges for 2019.”

City of Temecula lifeguards met all the summer challenges with an intensity that was admirable. Their dedication to having all their lifeguards synchronized in both execution and proficiency of all the skills was the reason they remained the leaders this summer.

While Temecula was a the clear victor, it had some tough competition, including runners-up Davie, Fla. (2017 Summer Lifeguard Challenge champs), Apache Junction, Ariz. and Chandler, Ariz.
