The Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP) has named U.S. Olympian and world champion swimmer Elizabeth Beisel as the organization’s new Water Safety Spokesperson. In this role, Beisel will help lead AOAP’s national efforts to promote water safety, drowning prevention, and inclusive access to aquatic education and experiences.

A three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic medalist, Beisel has worked as an advocate for water safety and ocean conservation in her post-competition career, through speaking engagements, outreach programs, and media appearances.

“Growing up in Rhode Island near the ocean water safety has always been at the forefront of my community but not everyone grows up with that privilege which is why I’m so passionate about spreading education around water safety,” Beisel said . “I’m so excited to partner with AOAP to help amplify their crucial messaging around this initiative that I know will help save lives.”

Beisel will deliver AOAP’s safety messaging through speaking engagements, public service initiatives, and by communicating with aquatic professionals from across the country.

“Elizabeth’s credibility as an elite athlete is matched by her authenticity and passion for advocacy,” said Juliene Hefter, AOAP’s executive director and CEO. “We are thrilled to welcome her into the AOAP family and believe her voice will have a tremendous impact on how we reach new audiences with life-saving education.”

The Association of Aquatic Professionals is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving the aquatics industry. The group also provides free water safety and drowning prevention materials for organizations, parents, and caregivers.
