Enclosed in a 47,000-square-foot aquatics pavilion, this indoor competition pool measures 50 meters by 25 yards, and includes 1- and 3-meter springboards on platforms for programming flexibility. A sparger system injects bubbles, making the water surface more visible and softer to divers. Two movable bulkheads allow operators to create separate spaces so swimming and diving practice can take place simultaneously, leaving most of the day open for recreational use. A movable floor also enables children’s swim classes, adult aerobics and other activities requiring shallower water. The permanent and movable seating can accommodate approximately 1,300 spectators. An ultraviolet supplemental sanitation system was provided to minimize off-gassing of chlorine and to assist the chlorine system in killing bacteria.
