Water Safety: Jim Spiers

1 MIN READ

Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation takes its mission so seriously, it’s reflected in the name. Its three elements are safer water, safer people, safer response.

The foundation’s mission is to use education and heightened water safety awareness to protect every life from drowning. To that end, it’s also created an educational water safety program for kids. And a trio of Safer 3 characters (shown) has appeared at events, swim schools and organization gatherings to get the message across to youngsters.

Since 2004, Jim Spiers has been instrumental in establishing and developing the programs of Tustin, Calif.-based Safer 3. As president of its board of directors, he’s spoken in the USA, Ireland, Brazil and Switzerland, and appeared on TV and radio. He’s also founder/owner of SwimJim, a New York swim school. In 2013 Spiers received the Humanitarian Award from the U.S. Swim School Association for his water safety efforts.
